Base Oils

Polyalphaolefins (PAOs) are a class of synthetic hydrocarbon fluids that are widely used in various industrial and automotive applications. They are produced by the polymerization of alpha-olefins, which are unsaturated hydrocarbons with a terminal double bond. PAOs are characterized by their high purity, high viscosity index, excellent thermal stability, and low pour point.

Polyalphaolefin

Mineral oil is a clear, odorless, and colorless liquid derived from petroleum. It is composed primarily of alkanes and cyclic paraffins, with molecular weights ranging from about 250 to 500.

Polyisobutylene (PIB) is a polymer that belongs to the class of elastomers, meaning it exhibits rubber-like properties such as flexibility and resilience. It is synthesized from isobutylene, a hydrocarbon derived from petroleum. Polyisobutylene is known for its excellent impermeability to gases, moisture, and other substances. Its molecular structure consists of long chains of repeating isobutylene units, which provide the polymer with its characteristic properties. There are multiple grades available with different viscosities.

Odourless Mineral Spirits (OMS), also known as odorless paint thinner or odorless mineral turpentine, are a type of solvent commonly used in painting, cleaning, and degreasing applications. OMS is a refined petroleum-derived solvent that has been processed to remove aromatic compounds, resulting in a product with a significantly reduced odor compared to traditional mineral spirits or white spirits.
OMS shares many properties with other mineral spirits, including its ability to dissolve oils, greases, and many types of paints and coatings. It is often used as a thinner for oil-based paints, varnishes, and stains, as well as for cleaning painting tools such as brushes and rollers.

Castor Oil & Derivatives

12-Hydroxystearic acid (12-HSA) is a fatty acid derivative of stearic acid, a saturated fatty acid commonly found in various natural fats and oils. It acts as an emulsifier, dispersant, and emollient in skincare products, improves flow properties in plastics manufacturing, and serves as a lubricant in industrial processes. The presence of the hydroxyl group confers unique properties to 12-HSA, making it valuable in a variety of industrial applications.

Crude castor oil, also known as raw or unrefined castor oil, is a vegetable oil that typically has a pale yellow to amber color and a distinct odor. It is used in a variety of applications, including cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, and other industrial products.

Hydrogenated castor oil, also known as castor flakes, is a solid, white or off-white waxy substance derived from castor oil through hydrogenation. It has a higher melting point and is insoluble in water. Used widely in cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, and industrial applications, it acts as an emollient, thickening agent, and lubricant.

Ricinoleic acid is a light coloured liquid fatty acid, with a ricinoleic content of approximately 90%. It is known for its anti-inflammatory properties in medicine and its use in various industrial products like cosmetics, lubricants, and plastics. Additionally, it's environmentally friendly due to its biodegradability and renewable sourcing.

Castor Oil USP (United States Pharmacopeia) is a pure, pale yellow high-quality grade of castor oil that meets stringent standards set by regulatory authorities for pharmaceutical and medicinal use. USP Grade Castor Oil is free from impurities, additives, and contaminants.

Available in 200ppm and 500ppm, low moisture castor oil is an FSG (First Special Grade) castor oil that is characteristically clear and free from suspended matter. It is light in colour and low in acidity.

Castor polyol is a medium viscosity versatile compound derived from castor oil, and is designed solvent-free. It has excellent water and acid resistance and shows good pigment wetting characteristics.

It has a light, pale yellow hue and a mild scent. Lithium hydroxide is a compound with the chemical formula LiOH. It is an inorganic compound composed of lithium, hydrogen, and oxygen atoms. Lithium hydroxide is commonly encountered as a white, hygroscopic, and crystalline solid.

The Extreme Pressure products undergo a chemical reaction with the metal surface, leading to the formation of a protective film containing sulfur. This film serves to decrease direct metal-to-metal contact, consequently lowering friction and minimizing material damage, such as that induced by welding.

Neutral Calcium Sulfonate is a type of calcium sulfonate compound used in various industrial applications, particularly in lubricants and greases. It is formed through the reaction of calcium hydroxide with sulfonic acids, resulting in a neutral or near-neutral pH product.

Overbased Calcium Sulfonate (OBCS) is a type of complex soap thickener used in grease formulations. It is created through a chemical reaction between calcium hydroxide, sulfur dioxide, and an organic acid, typically a sulfonic acid. The resulting product is a highly overbased calcium sulfonate, meaning that it contains a large excess of calcium compared to traditional soap thickeners.

1,6-Hexanediol is a diol featuring hydroxy groups substituted at positions 1 and 6 of the hexane molecule. It acts as both a diol and a primary alcohol, originating from a hexane hydride.

Epichlorohydrin is a transparent, colorless liquid with a pungent odor reminiscent of chloroform. It has a density of 9.8 lb/gal and a flash point of 87°F. This compound is capable of polymerization, and if such a reaction occurs in a sealed container, it can lead to a dangerous rupture. It irritates both the skin and the respiratory system and is toxic if ingested, being a confirmed carcinogen. Its vapors are denser than air.

Acrylamido-tert-butyl (also known as N-tert-butylacrylamide or N-t-butylacrylamide) is a chemical compound and monomer used in various industrial applications, including water treatment, adhesives, coatings, and biomedical fields.

Glycerin, a clear, odorless liquid with a sweet taste, is widely utilized in pharmaceuticals, food production, coatings, resins, and adhesives. Within lipids, it forms a crucial molecular structure called glycerides. Recognized for its antimicrobial and antiviral properties, it's a key component in FDA-approved treatments for wounds and burns. Glycerol also plays a pivotal role in assessing liver disease. It's commonly employed as a sweetening agent in the food industry and as a moisture-retaining humectant in pharmaceutical formulations.

Dicyclopentadiene (DCPD), the dimer of cyclopentadiene (CPD), is synthesized through a Diels-Alder addition reaction. These DCPD compounds stem from the high-temperature breakdown of petroleum fractions and are identified as exceptionally reactive intermediates. They find extensive application in various resin types such as aromatic hydrocarbons, unsaturated polyesters, phenolics, and epoxies.

Dicyandiamide (DICY) is a white crystalline compound, scientifically known as cyanoguanidine, that exhibits strong alkalinity and solubility in water. It is the dimer of cyanamide or cyanoguanidine and finds primary application in melamine production. Additionally, DICY serves as a curing agent for epoxy resins and laminates used in circuit boards, powder coatings, and adhesives.

Sulfonic acid is an exceptionally potent organic acid, exhibiting acidity levels comparable to those of inorganic acids. It is essentially sulfuric acid wherein one of the hydroxyl groups is replaced by an organic substituent.
