Tetrahydrofuran (THF)

Tetrahydrofuran (THF) is a colorless, water-miscible liquid with a slightly sweet odor. It is classified as an ether and is notable for its ability to dissolve a wide range of organic compounds. THF has many industrial applications, primarily as a solvent. It is commonly used in the production of various polymers such as polytetramethylene ether glycol (PTMEG), which is a precursor to elastane and polyurethane. THF is also used as a reaction solvent in organic synthesis and as a component in some adhesives, coatings, and cleaning agents.
